Fire

  • This is an old flammable house with no fire station close by so NO FIRES IN FIREPLACE or SMOKING in house or porches.   Firepits may be used if pulled far away from house and other flammable items and kept small.  Wood for firepits is on side of house near kitchen door.
  • Turn off portable heaters when not in room.
  • Fire extinguisher and fire blanket can be found next to kitchen stairs.

Alarm and Passwords

  • To set alarm hit “Away” and then close door securely behind you, then hit lock on the outside keypad.  DO NOT LOCK TURN LOCK IN DOOR KNOB AS SECURITY SYSTEM DOES NOT UNLOCK DOOR HANDLE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGAIN ACCESS.
  • The password for wifi is 1234567890.   We are not in an area served by broadband so the speeds will likely be slower than you are accustomed!

Kitchen and Food

  • Start oven by choosing temp and then hitting start.   It will ding and turn red.  Once pre-heated it will turn white.    Please be sure to turn off burners (easy to accidently turn on by leaning on front of stove but we do have a guard on it that helps prevent – flip it up to turn knobs.)
  • Griddle should be cleaned with water and non-abrasive sponge or paper towel only.   Pouring a small amount of water on it when hot is the easiest way to clean.
  • Keurig can use k-cups or full pot.   To use k-cups place in reservoir on top, hit center button, choose k-cup and then number of ounces for cup.  To use full pot, hit center button, choose full pot, number of cups (the numbers correspond to ounces when using k-cups but cups when doing full pot), and then hit center button again.   Scoop for coffee is next to Keurig – one small size scoop for each cup.   Bulk coffee is in freezer.
  • Instant hot water dispenser on sink for tea.  Water comes out at 190 degrees!

Other

  • Clean towels, additional blankets and pillows can be found in upstairs linen closet.  Place dirty towels and sheets on bathroom floor before you leave.   Additional pillows in the chest in the River Room.
  • House is old and with that comes HVAC challenges 😊  Best way to keep a good temp is to keep door to living room shut and kitchen curtain to upstairs shut.  Running ceiling fans is also a big help.  If additional heat is needed, space heaters can be used but please turn off when not in the room.  You may modify the thermostat within reason and if you need assistance, let me know and I can adjust remotely.
  • Floors are original heart pine and are soft.  Please be kind to them and not wear heels.

Feel free to walk the farm but do not walk to the far end of the dirt driveway going into the woods as that is a personal residence. Be sure to keep driveway going back to that house clear.

Stay clear of cliff edges as they can erode under your feet where you cannot see.
